In the challenging environment of the Cook Strait, New Zealand OMV's Raroa FPSO developed several significant hull corrosion pits. Pushing the limits of conventional cofferdam repairs AMOG developed a highly economical solution to achieve a long term repair which could be implemented underwater without taking the FPSO off-station.

AMOG designed the repair methodology and the cofferdam to achieve the repair, demonstrating its acceptability to the class society and the operator.

In the space of 7 days three pits were repaired using the cofferdam which reinstated the long term integrity of the hull without incident or interruption to operations.

Submitted in conjunction with OMV New Zealand and acknowledging the contributions of ABS and MODEC, this project was nominated as a finalist in the Australian Engineering Excellence Awards (Vic) in 2018.
